📚 Why Read in Mandarin Chinese?

If you already read in your native language, convincing you to read in Mandarin won’t be difficult. As for people who don’t read, I believe there are many benefits to reading in your target language.

Reading helps you expand your vocabulary

It’s much easier to identify new words when reading. If a character looks unfamiliar, it’s likely one you don’t know. You can take your time when reading an article or novel which means you can use dictionaries to learn new words.

Reading gives you insight into the culture

One way culture is shared is through stories. Articles, comics and books expose you to different idioms and historical/cultural references. It is by reading about various topics that you can expand your cultural knowledge.
