I typically reserve my activity charts for monthly study logs, but this week, my sole focus was on French. So, I thought I'd make an exception and include a pie chart to show all the nine activities I tracked for French.
French Tutor is my focus, and I’ve been slowly working through the units. Currently, I’m halfway through Unit 8.
All my weekends have been busy recently so I haven’t been able to do my usual French conversation lessons. During the week I booked one for Saturday morning and it went as the past ones did.
In the past, I used to worry that inconsistent lessons might hinder my speaking progress. However, instead of fretting, I simply show up and deal with whatever happens.
There is a benefit to having spaced-out lessons, though. It allows me to have something to discuss by recapping my past week or so. During this week's session, I found myself mostly rambling about my recent experiences at work and my intention to rest over the weekend. Yet, I stumbled when I accidentally used "se déposer" (to deposit) instead of "se reposer" (to rest). Although I quickly corrected myself in the next sentence, my tutor was very confused.
I did manage to rest during the weekend, though! One of my goals is to allocate time for creative activities like painting, photography, and writing. Since I have no energy during the weekdays after work, I’ve dedicated the weekends to doing that. In preparation for Earth Day week at work, I painted three boxes to serve as bins for compost, recycling, and garbage. It turned out to be a lot of fun, giving me 2 hours of flow. My students enjoyed interacting with them today while learning about the different types of items that belong in each bin.
As a side note, I’m not sure if it was the painting or journaling before bed but I had the best sleep Sunday night. It was so good that when I woke up I thought it was Saturday. It’s Monday, though.
Cheers to another week of language learning and relaxation!
