I appreciate your honesty on when to take a breather from language learning and focus on other enjoyable hobbies. I tend to put pressure on myself to spend my free time language learning too. It’s good to keep things in perspective sometimes!

I completely agree! It does get a bit difficult for me since my work is also tied to language learning. I think it's all the more reason I shouldn't put too much pressure on myself.

It's great that you're able to put things in perspective!

A good reminder to avoid burnout... Lately, studying languages and writing the newsletter has felt like a chore, so I'm taking it slow as well. I'm taking time for my other hobbies, like playing D&D with friends !

It's good to take time for other hobbies!

Newsletter writing takes a lot of time for me as well so finding a balance is important.

Oh my god I so totally relate to this. I also find it challenging to make it not all-consuming. If I could, I'd spend my entire days learning languages, ignoring my kids and my social life and my mental health.

As a Malaysian, speaking multiple languages in a sentence is just our way of being. Didn't realise it was so weird until I lived in Australia and had to catch my slipping back in the habit. So, I totally understand your struggle!

I think it's amazing when other people do it! Who says you need to communicate in just one language if you can use more? 😊

It's very common in the booktube (YouTubers who talk about books) space!

I mostly read ebooks from my library so I never had a large enough physical collection to do it until now.
