When Side Quests Take Over
Progress Despite the Distractions | DELF Diaries
Itās been almost a month since my last DELF Diary entry, and letās just say Iāve been distracted by side quests.
At first, things were going well. I did my workbook exercises, reviewed vocabulary, and continued sentence mining with Migaku (1,580 words total now). However, I didnāt reach my goal of completing 25 exercises in each of the three workbooks. Iāve learned not to set study goals during a long weekend. I always assume my motivation will continue into the workweek, and it rarely does.

Instead of working toward my study goals, I was pulled into other language-related events and challenges.
I met a new French speaker who made me realize that work no longer provides the same immersion benefits it once did1. When I first started, I was a beginner, and every French interaction felt like a challenge I had to overcome.
