✅ April Summary
After such an eventful month in March, I knew it wouldn’t be fair to have the same expectations for April. As it was the start of the second quarter, I hadn’t yet thought of my plans. I now have a rough idea of how I want my second quarter to go.
My language project board was much smaller and even still, maybe of them were incomplete by the end of the month.
Completed April Language Project Board
Even though I wanted to Finish watching 三体, I ended up not watching a single episode and to add to that, I didn’t do any Mandarin-related study.
Unlike March, I didn’t have any days off work and my weekends were all filled with events. When I’m busy with life stuff, I find it difficult to have the energy to do the things I want to do for myself.
📅 May Language Plan
I was going to create a project board for May but I’ve decided not to and instead to see how the month goes.
🧧 Mandarin
April Plan
Finish watching 三体 (B1) ❌
I’m a bit surprised I hadn’t tracked any Mandarin activities in April especially since I wanted to finish watching 三体. After the first few days of April had passed and I realized I hadn’t watched an episode, I decided to let the task go and focus on other things. By other things I mean French.
Based on how April went, I won’t be making any plans for May.
🥐 French
April Plan
15+ days of journal writing (C2) ❌
Complete French Tutor - 17 units remaining (C3) ❌
Complete 1 section in Better Reading French (B3) ❌
This month was interesting. I knew it was a slower month because I couldn’t get myself to spend more than a few minutes doing any study after work. Most of my activities were from the reading I do at work and a little bit of study over the weekend.
I only journaled on 4 days and completed 8.5 units in French Tutor. I did do a few exercises in Better Reading French but not enough to complete a section.
While I didn’t do as much dedicated studying, I still heard and used French at work. My confidence in French has grown a lot in these past months.
For May, I’m keeping my plans limited to the resources I want to use and the activities I would like to do more of.
In a few days, I will reach my 1.5-year mark of relearning French. I’m quite happy with the progress I’ve made so far and can’t wait to see where I’ll be in another 6 months!
May Plan
Use French Tutor
Use Better Reading French
Speaking practice with audio recordings
🌤️/🏔️ Spanish & Icelandic
I did a few minutes of dabbling in Spanish and Icelandic. I’ve felt like studying more Icelandic recently but I think French is still preventing me from allocating any more time to other languages.

I appreciate how honest your title is for this post. It’s difficult to predict how each month is going to go sometimes. You’re doing great, keep up the good work! ☺️
Congratulations, you're setting a great example by showing you're OK with not always performing at 300%. 😊
You're making so much progress!
